Northwest High School Drama Parent Committee

Northwest High School’s great productions don’t just happen. They are the result of an incredible amount of work and creativity on the part of our students, directors and volunteers. That’s where the Drama Parent Committee comes in.  Parents support the program by volunteering time and skills. Please join us in supporting our students in this great endeavor.

While the shows cannot go on without the hard working cast, dancers, crew, tech, and Directors, it also cannot be a success without the help of the parents.  We need help before the performances for tech dinners, advertising, program ads, and the day of performances for various activities such as Ticket sales, Concessions, Ushering, and Playbills. So please use the below link to sign up genius, to see where you can sign up to help! We have an amazing community of parents and would love for you to help out and join in the fun!!

Before the Performances:

Tech Dinner – There are 2 technical rehearsals Weds Nov 1st & Thurs Nov 2nd

It has been a fantastic tradition within the NWHS Drama program for the parents to be able to provide dinner for all of the show participants (cast, crew, tech, dancers, directors) on those late evenings. We NEED EVERYONE’S help to make these successful!  The participants really enjoy and appreciate the wonderful spread of food provided by parents and we also need a few of you to help serve food.  Expect to receive several communications about Tech Dinner as we work to get the large amount of food contributions, paper products, and monetary donations that we will need. We also purchase and provide a meal to the show participants on Sat Nov 4th following the 2pm show & prior to call time for the 7pm show as they won't have time for food runs.

Publicity/Advertise the show- Forward the flyer and help advertise the show!! Spread the word within your neighborhood, family, friends, and colleagues and encourage them to come see the play. Print copies of the flyer and post them at your job, local businesses, neighborhood, and other venues.

Ad Placement in the Playbill: We need parents to raise money by selling ad space to local businesses that they might frequent.  Create a personal ad to congratulate your child or provide well wishes to the team.  Ad sales are a major source of revenue for the drama group.

Day of Performances:

Ticket Sales - This involves selling tickets at the door prior to each performance.  Volunteers are needed 45 to 60 minutes prior to show time.  You help prior to the show and can then attend the performance once it starts.

Concessions - This involves selling items such as beverages, snacks, and flowers before the show and during intermission. A few parents are needed to help prior to the show and during intermission. If you are short on time, you can volunteer to help out during intermission. Also, if you are watching the show, it is still possible to help out with this area during intermission.

Ushering - Volunteers are stationed at the auditorium doors prior to and during the show and during intermission. The parent collects tickets and distributes programs to attendees. We also need parents to monitor each door to control entry and exit from 1 set of doors while the show is going on. Volunteers should arrive 30 minutes prior to show time.
